Instead, you get a yellow triangle or yellow exclamation mark next to the unidentified driver under Portable Devices. Your connected device shows up without the correct label. Most of them are PnP (Plug and Play), meaning you just plug one in and, provided the device driver is already on the machine, perform whatever operation you wish to do with it.
